We discussed the beauty industry in particular, although these vital questions apply to all industries. Before undertaking a new video project, I always ask the following questions and provide a video marketing checklist. So let’s jump right in!
The video marketing checklist:
1. Tell us about your Brand?
This is one of the most important questions! Finding out who a business is, what they stand for and what their vision is, is crucial. Why? Well, at the heart of the video is story-telling and emotion. Humanising a brand, showing the people involved and the product in use are all essential parts to a successful video.
2. What is the purpose of your video?
Secondly, finding out why the client is after video content is key to creating the most effective angle. Will it be for EDMs, events, social media or your website? What are the concepts and the mandatory elements? Who is your target audience? This knowledge will ensure that the whole script, videoing and editing process are focused on your goals!
3. How long will the video be?
What video length are you looking for? We call this duration in our questionnaire that we provide clients. For example: Is your video going to be 30 seconds, 60 seconds or 10 minutes? Whatever length we can cater to you with the right budget.
4. Providing mood boards/inspiration videos
Fourthly, I determine what style and conceptual look the client wants. Before we commence, I like to get a video that a client likes and has seen in the past. This look board helps to determine what they’re after visually and ensure that we’re on the same page.
5. Logistics and organisation
when they arrive on scene is crucial for a successful shoot. I always prioritise being highly organised to ensure the day flows seamlessly. This really puts clients at ease as I collaborate closely. You don’t have to a marketing mind as I can help in many aspects. We’ve also seen people on the other end of the spectrum who know exactly what they want.
